The CreateA Film Ensemble is proud to present three short(ish) films, which have been produced over the last 18 months. The concepts for each film have been developed by the ensemble members, reflecting their personal interests and concerns. All the dialogue is improvised by the actors. As our filmmaking journey evolves, we focus less on dialogue and narrative, and more on images and sensations, responding to the strengths of the medium we work in. These three films were screened at La Trobe Art Institute’s Brockley Auditorium, 121 View St Bendigo on 13 December 2025.

Film 1: Walls and Doors (17 minutes)

A meditation on the plight of a man imprisoned, his yearning for freedom, and his struggle to negotiate a broken system, alongside a mysterious cell mate. WARNING: Features mimes of self-harm

Film 2: Elvis Strikes Back (24 minutes)

The Ensemble returns to their roots in comedy, inviting the audience into an Elvis impersonation competition. Get ready for singing, dancing, and of course, a little bit of corruption.

Film 3: The Salon (10 minutes)

A gentle, beautiful film about the day-to-day tasks of running a salon, where the locals enjoy watching the world go by, having a bit of a gossip, and drinking a great coffee. Many thanks to Emma McNamee at Rogue Collab. (99-103 View St. Bendigo) for the use of her salon as a location.
